BEFORE YOU BOOK
Questions people ask.
If yours isn't here, ask it on the booking page — I answer every one myself.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the subject and the level, so I set it after the first conversation rather than before. That call is free, takes about fifteen minutes, and you'll leave it knowing exactly what your child needs and what it costs. No pressure either way.
What does the first session look like?
The first ten minutes are a conversation — interests, what school's like, what your child wants out of this. Then a diagnostic on the subject you've chosen: about thirty minutes with a short break, and every solution gets walked through as they go, so the test itself is the first lesson. The last five minutes are a call with you — strengths, gaps, what happens next. Before the second session we build your child's plan around their gaps and their interests, and from then on the last five minutes of every class goes to something they love.
Are sessions online or in person?
Online, always. It's why we can work with families anywhere in Canada, and why a student in Vancouver and a student in Toronto get the same tutor and the same plan.
What areas do you cover?
All of Canada. Because everything is online, where you live doesn't limit who teaches your child.
How do you decide which tutor works with my child?
I match on four things: what your child needs, where they're currently at, their educational background, and what they're working toward. Then there's the part that matters just as much — whether the two of them actually work well together. I don't hand you whoever is free.
How long is a session, and how often?
Sessions run one to two hours. Most families come one to five times a week, same time each week, though we set the schedule around yours and change it when your life changes.
What if my child doesn't click with their tutor?
Tell me. I'll listen to what isn't working and match them with someone else. A student who doesn't feel comfortable doesn't ask questions, and a student who doesn't ask questions doesn't improve — so this matters more than the inconvenience of a switch.
Is it one-on-one, or in groups?
One-on-one by default. If you'd prefer a small group, ask and we'll arrange it.
How soon can we start?
Within 24 hours of your first conversation.
Do you only work with school-age students?
No. Grades 1 through 12 is the bulk of what we do, but we also work with university students and adults — career coaching and financial literacy especially.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours notice and there's no charge. Inside 24 hours, the session is billed at 50%. A missed session with no notice is billed in full. Life happens — tell me early and we'll find another time.
